Shape Michigan Award
Adrian College Institute for Education Newsletter
Honors & OrganizationsDuring my time at Adrian College, I was a member of Phi Epsilon Kappa, the health honors society. I was elected Head of Public Relations and President. During this time, I organized and found funding for a conference trip for myself and 12 classmates to attend the National Shape America Conference in Nashville, TN.
I was also a member of Sigma Tau Delta, the English Honors Society, and the National Society of leadership and Success. As a member of Alpha Phi Fraternity, I was elected Marshall, Director of Watchcare, and New Member Educator. |
In October of 2018 I was nominated by my college professor and Honors Society Advisor, Al Craven, for the SHAPE Michigan Major of the Year Award. The SHAPE America Major of the Year award celebrates outstanding undergraduate students in the fields of health, physical education, recreation and dance. Faculty advisors/professors are encouraged to nominate one outstanding student per major per college/university.

This is a slideshow that I used as a visual aid during a 9th grade English class period just after we finished The Most Dangerous Game, and right before we wrote our narrative. I broke up the Cornell Notes that I had assigned previously into slides that I projected onto a white board and had the students collaboratively write their answers to the assigned questions on the board. Using this method, my students were able to collaboratively prove that they understood the concepts. They were also set up to make connections to authentic local and global issues using their own differing perspectives.
