Assessment
During my Narrative writing unit, this is the rubric that I used to grade the assignments. I also gave it to my students to self-revise and peer edit with. Adapted from the common core narrative rubric, my rubric not only covered what the standards expect my students to be able to do, but also encapsulated the other work we did in class (i.e. supplemental works, readings, and drafts). This allowed me to involve both myself and my students in assessing their growth and progress.

For formative assessments, a tool I love using is Kahoot. This is a great tool for monitoring growth and progress in a way that is fun and competitive for my students. I am able to change my plans based on the results of Kahoots. For instance, I use the reports that Kahoot generates for me to see which chapters I need to refocus on. This is an example of a report from a Kahoot I gave after reading The Most Dangerous Game.
